Objective:
Be the first player to earn 15 Acorn Tokens.
Set Up:
Each player gets
1 "Truth" card
1 "Lie" card
5 Acorn Tokens
Place the main deck (face down) and remaining Acorn Tokens in the middle of the group.
How to Play:
Elect someone to go first. That player pulls a card from the Main Deck and rolls the 12-sided die.
The number or letters on the die determines which category they will use:
1. Word
2. Story
3. Finish It
4. This or That
FC "Free Choice"
AP "All Play"
This player secretly decides to either lie or tell the truth about the prompt on the card. The player tells the group which word/phrase they have and reads it out loud. Then they do their best truth telling
or lying!
Starting to the left and going around the circle, each player secretly votes on whether they believe them or not by placing the appropriate card face down in front of them (Truth or Lie). Each player also bets between 1 and 3 Acorn Tokens and places them next to their face down card. Once everyone has placed their bets, the player then reveals whether they were lying or telling the truth. If you guessed correctly, you earn the number of tokens bet by taking them from the pile in the middle. If you got it wrong, you lose the tokens that you bet, and surrender them to the pile. The player whose turn it is, neither wins or loses any tokens.
The player on the left goes next, and the first player to reach 15 tokens is the WINNER!
Guidelines:
Word - Talk about the word in any way you want. It can be a one-word answer, story, opinion, interesting fact, etc.
Story - Tell a short story about yourself based on the prompt on the card.
Finish It - Finish the quote. It can be a short or long answer. You must say the beginning of the quote exactly as it appears on the card.
This or That - Simply say which one you prefer, or would rather, or give up...depending on the card.
FC (Free Choice) - Choose whichever category you'd like and proceed!
AP (All Play) - Choose any category you’d like, tell the group which one you chose, and you become the ‘Judge’. Then go around the circle and each player gives their answer (truth or lie, doesn’t matter...but they don’t reveal until after) and you get to choose your favorite one. It can be the funniest, most interesting, awkard, dirty, ....whatever. Your're the judge! The player with the winning answer is awarded 2 tokens.

**** Note about All Play: Each player around the circle personally adopts the description or phrase on the card. For example, if the card says “My biggest pet peeve is...” ...then each player talks about their biggest pet peeve, and not the Judge’s pet peeve.

FAQs
Question: If someone runs out of acorn tokens, are they out of the game?
Answer: No they are not out of the game. They are allowed to bet again on the next round, but if they guess correctly they only earn one game token. Then from there, they can try to get back into the game.
Question: Am I allowed to tell a 'half truth' or tell a story with a mixture of true and false information?
Answer: No, silly. That's against the spirit of the game. For example you cannot tell a story about your brother Alex and give a bunch of true details which everyone believes and bets on, and then reveal that the story is really a lie because your brother's name is really Allen and not Alex. That one lie doesn't replace all the truths in your story! So just keep it consistent.
Question: What if there is a tie game at the end between two or more players?
Answer: They must fight to the death. (just kidding). If there is a tie, select someone who is not tied and they pull a card. The tied players just play the game as usual against that person pulling cards, for as many rounds as it takes, until somebody wins!
Alternate Game Modes
"Beginner Play"
In this version, rather than rolling the 12-sided die, you can just choose whichever category you'd like on the card. Also, you can simplify things by betting one token per turn instead of betting between 1 and 3. This will lengthen the time of the game if you still play to 15, so just play to 8 or 10 or whatever you decide.
"Get to Know You"
This can be played with 2 people or more. It's meant for couples or groups who don't know each other very well and just want to have fun. You simply play the original game, but you always tell the truth, and there's no betting or score keeping.
"High Stakes"
This version is for the experienced gamblers! You start with 7 tokens instead of 5. You play to 25 instead of 15. And there's no limit to how many tokens you can bet per turn! This means you can go “all in” at any time.
